St Barthelemy is a French district, administrated by department of region Guadeloupe. There are about 8.000 inhabitants, to which tourists are added, especially in high season (from December 15Th to april 15Th). The Euro is the official currency but US$ are accepted all over – including for real estate transactions. INVESTMENT: there are no restrictions for American citizens to purchase a property on St Barts. The real estate regulations are almost the same than in the United States. TAXES: the day of the closing taxes and fees to be paid are between 6% and 7% for a villa that is more than 5 years old or for a piece of land. There isn’t any property tax on the island.
